London-born producer and label head Zeb Samuels will be releasing his new single, ‘Moth To Your Flame’, on the 18th of November via Deep Heads. The record follows ‘About That Time’, his recently released collaboration with Azymuth’s keyboardist Kiko Continentino, as well as his Cosmic Vibrations Vol.3 compilation, which was released earlier this year.
Zeb’s music has been supported by numerous tastemaker publications, namely Stereofox, CLASH Magazine, Magnetic Magazine, XLR8R, Electronic Groove and Decoded Magazine, received spins on BBC Radio 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson, Don Letts, Nemone, 5FM’s Kid Fonque, and Soulection Radio’s Joe Kay, and been streamed close to 2 million times on Spotify alone.
Discussing how he approached the record, Zeb Samuels says: “Like many of my recordings, the track was made without a clear intention of what we wanted to create, but resonates with the energy of meditative thought and chilled-out vibes that we were experiencing at the time. I then added the vocals on top, which I felt complimented the energy that was captured in our recording session.”
Self-confessed music fanatic Zeb Samuels grew up in London where he discovered a world of music that gifted him with his appreciation for a variety of genres. The self-taught pianist developed further, adding songwriter, producer, and vocalist to his list of offerings.
As the label manager for Deep Heads, he has released works from Ash Walker, Synkro, Djrum, Escapism Refuge, Joe Armon-Jones, Mcknasty, Congi, Geode, Versa and Rowl. He finds much of his inspiration in Boards of Canada, Pink Floyd, Robert Glasper and LTJ Bukem.
His new single ‘Moth To Your Flame’ starts with a midrange frequency drone that sets the stage for this eerie recording. The production is warm and full of immersive sounds that demand your full attention. Co-written with friend Daniel Blenman, the track displays some weird and wonderful music that dominates and pulses through the airwaves.
